Frisco track meet stabbing: Everything we know about Anthony, Metcalf

FRISCO, TexasAnthony, 18, is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 17-year-old Metcalf, 17,.

Witnesses told police that Anthony stabbed Metcalf during a dispute at a Frisco track meet on April 2. The incident occurred during a UIL District 11-5A event at Kuykendall Stadium on a rainy afternoon.

Police say Anthony, then a student at Centennial High School, allegedly stabbed Metcalf in the chest during a fight. According to Anthony’s representatives, there is no evidence the two students had met before the event.

An arrest report details what happened after the stabbing. Witnesses pointed Anthony out to a school resource officer, who found him at the north end of the track. The officer told him to keep his hands up. Anthony reportedly responded, “I was protecting myself.

He also said, “He put his hands on me.” According to the officer, when others were told a suspect was in custody, Anthony said, “I’m not alleged. I did it.” While being escorted to a squad car, he added, “He put his hands on me. I told him not to.”

The report says Anthony asked if Metcalf would be okay and whether the stabbing might be considered self-defense. Officers photographed blood on Anthony’s hand but did not find a knife at the scene.

Frisco Police informed Anthony’s family that more than 75 people had been interviewed and that the investigation remained active. The arrest report includes testimony from multiple witnesses.

1st Memorial HS Witness:

One Memorial High School student told police that he and others were sitting under their team’s tent when Anthony, from Centennial High School, joined them. Metcalf asked Anthony to leave the tent area.

The witness said Anthony opened his bag and told him, “Touch me and see what happens.” No one thought he had a weapon. When Metcalf touched him, Anthony replied, “Punch me and see what happens.”

A short time later, Metcalf reportedly grabbed Anthony to make him move, and that’s when Anthony pulled out what the witness described as a black knife and stabbed him in the chest before fleeing.

2nd Memorial HS Witness:

Because of heavy rain, officers brought the victim’s twin brother and another teammate into a locker room to provide statements. Metcalf’s brother was too upset to speak.

The second witness said the group was sitting under the Memorial tent when a male he didn’t recognize joined them. Metcalf asked him to leave since he wasn’t from Memorial.

They exchanged words, and Metcalf eventually pushed the other student. During the argument, the male reached into his bag, pulled out a knife, stabbed Metcalf, and left the scene.

The report also includes statements from about two dozen student-athletes and four coaches who witnessed the event. Police say the case remains under review.
